SECRET MUSEUM OF KIND MEN VOL 2 drops on MAYDAY!
by Matthew on Apr.15, 2013, under Uncategorized
Officially on May 1st we are accepting orders for the newest Casual Acid Tea offering.

Hark! the second installment in this quest to reinterpret classic cuts from the Secret Museum of Mankind with modern instrumentation and through the lens of our place in modern time. Featuring Brooklyn’s Ramble Tamble recrafting “Ta Magia Sto Pegadi” from the Greek isle of Epirus and “Raks Fazani” from Tunisia.
From the band, “This is the first studio document of Ramble Tamble and we humbly submit it as a tribute and celebration of those music-makers who’s sound survived and found immortality at 78rpm. These recordings are a wellspring of inspiration and humanity. May the days of their “secrecy” pass on into well-deserved obscurity.”
Piano, DX7, trap kit: Casey Glover * Fiddle: Adam Markiewicz
Fret-less Bass: Eli Winograd * Electric Shahi Baaja: Turner Williams Jr.
*Featuring beautiful art by the musicians themselves, hand screen printed.
Attention!!! INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING RATES HAVE CHANGED
by Matthew on Apr.15, 2013, under Uncategorized
The US Post Office nearly doubled the rates for international shipping in January 2013. Mailing singular records abroad now is very expensive. Even if I sell records at cost a single 7′ now will cost over $15 USD. To deal with this new obstacle I am seeking distribution in different territories.
In the UK I have found Norman Records ALL UK orders…. please go thru Norman Records.

Secret Museum of Kind Men 7″
by Matthew on Jun.12, 2011, under Uncategorized
I am raising $500 to release a recording on 7″ vinyl. The recording is done & I only need to secure the funds for pressing the vinyl. The project is a called “The Secret Museum of Kind Men” and is 2 covers or interpretations of songs from the Secret Museum of Mankind Box Set: a 5 disk compilation of field recordings of folks songs from all around the world, recorded between 1925-1948. These songs are haunting and magical and have inspired me greatly since I first heard them in 2002. I chose 2 of my favorites and created arrangements and then recordings. The two songs are from Greece and Japan and sound amazing. The 7″ will truly be a piece of art with hand silk screened sleeves.
The players on the recordings are Colin Langenus, Davis Salisbury, Myself and Odeya Nini. Recorded by Colin L. with additional tracking and mixing by Paul Fraser. Mastered by Abel Okugawa @ Monkeyclaus studios.

Bongladesh – Bongladesh from S Shapouri on Vimeo.
Something real is happening…
Limited Edition Casual Acid Tea 2010 Compilation is out NOW!

The CD-R release is a sampler of several archival recordings from the past years. I play drums on all the material. The sampler is 5 tracks and is mostly improvised. Three are live recordings and two are studio excerpts of other records I plan to re-issue. The bands include Matthew Clark Quartet, CSC Funk Band, Galactic Core, Bongladesh, and 2012 Love Orchestra.
and soon thereafter…..
the long awaited BONGLADESH DVD!!!
Bongladesh recorded one song ever, in our practice space in Brooklyn, with the concept of making a video and releasing our 20 minute opus as a DVD. After years of gestation and effort the DVD is finally ready for release, and I’ll be releasing it on Casual Acid Tea. The video is mainly flash animation done by Sara Shapouri, and also incorporates green screen video, live footage, and assorted other video clips. This should be available in the next two weeks!!!! MIND WARP!!!!! Thanks SARA!!!
